The B. C. Roy Memorial Library, IIM Calcutta successfully organized a Five-Day National Workshop on Data Carpentry and AI/ML Tools for Libraries (1–5 July 2024) to empower library and information professionals with future-ready skills in data science, research analytics, and artificial intelligence.
The workshop offered practical, step-by-step sessions covering data wrangling, OpenRefine setup, citation and bibliographic metadata, informetrics, NER and sentiment analysis, automated subject indexing, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), automated systematic reviews, and semantic annotation—enabling participants to transform data into valuable insights for modern library services.
The sessions were led by distinguished resource persons:
- Dr. Narayan Chandra Ghosh, Librarian, B. C. Roy Memorial Library, IIM Calcutta
- Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay, Professor, Department of Library & Information Science, University of Kalyani
